I found this disappointing, and shook my quality perception of this brand. I only shot it at the indoor range at the dealers store, so there is no abuse. My dealer called killer instinct, and killer instinct will warrantee the string. They noticed it too.Ĭons: The string frayed after about 15 shots. I was shooting at the end of the range next to two other archers with nice compound bows, and their arrows did not have the impact that my crossbow does. As I said, this is my first crossbow, and the power of the bolts hitting the target is quite startling. The crossbow is very quiet when shooting, which is a real plus. I didn’t think I’d be able to manually arm it, but it’s fairly easy. I can easily pull the string back manually as the draw it’s not that difficult.

I bought it at a local shop because I needed the initial training, and they include a one year unlimited range time with the purchase. I bought it because the crossbow felt good in my hands, and has a built in crank that silently pulls the string back, and has a descent scope. It was just released and the store got it in the day before. I purchased it at a Local Archery store on 9-8-21.
I can't believe that I just turned 60, and I am just noticing my physical limitations are starting to "change" so I'll want a crank on the next crossbow as well. I like affordable quality, so I want long-lasting durability, and performance in the "best in class" range. Is is worth getting another Fatal-X? Or maybe check out another manufacturer.
I am considering purchasing another crossbow as a backup, and wanted to know your thoughts on Killer Instincts long term quality. I posted this on Amazon, and copied the below review here. This KI Fatal X is my first crossbow and I wish to share my thoughts about it with you. I wish I found this site before my purchase, but overall I'm satisfied with the Fatal X. I am new to this site and new to crossbows and, so far, I am really liking this Crossbow Nation community. But, I think it is refund time before this thing maims me. KI acknowledged the defect and will warrant the bow. lol Cams were destroyed, string is kinked, but not broken as far as I could see. Ironically, the frayed string mentioned in the original review is still intact. It is was my first crossbow, it cocked easily, shot great, but, quite frankly I have no faith in the brand. I'm really disappointed in this crossbow. I straightened upright as I got to the end of the pull, then SNAP! Thank GOD I wasn't hunched over the bow when pulling the sled. When I got home I cleaned up the cuts and took these pics. After I bled all over the range floor, I cleaned the wounds up, slapped on a couple of bandaids and left the bow with the shop.

As I was pulling the rope sled back to set the string, the sled cracked apart and dry fired my bow, and cut my thumb and finger up pretty nicely. I haven't shot the Crossbow in a few weeks and went to the Range today.
